Day 16 Paris Museums

It rained most of last night so our original plans to see the Eiffel Tower today were changed to doing the museums.  This is why we decided not to pre-buy the Eiffel Tower tickets.  On the other hand the day could have gone so much smother if we had know that there was a tourist information center right next to the metro stop across from the hotel to buy the museum passes.  Instead we gave up on the Louvre line and moved on the the Orangerie where we stood for 1.5 hours to end up buy the museum passes from there.  Once we had the museum passes (for John and me-the kids were free) we were able to see the artwork in the Orangerie, d'Orsay, and the Louvre (we will use them at Versailles tomorrow). And as with this Welty family this means a quick look at the art, but not studying it.  When we were done with the museums we walked to Norte Dame and walked around the outside of it.  We rode the metro back to our hotel for dinner we picked up cheese and bread etc.  After dinner and darkness we took the metro back into town and took a few pictures of the Eiffel tower after dark.

Getting ready to catch the metro for the day.
Not the London Eye
First peek of the Eiffel Tower
Napoleon's triumphal arches
Messing around outside the Louvre-
without the jump pass the line was not worth it.

D'Orsy statues

Painted next to the Seine
Now we know about the locks we saw in Iceland too.  You are supposed to buy and lock write your name and the one you love on it and lock it on the bridge, then throw the key in the water.

Looking in

Paris room.  I like the location.  Lot of shopping and pretty view up.  The street is loud, but fun to hang out the window and watch all the people.  However, the room had a funky smell.
