Basketball awards Sage and John

After the last basketball game the other day, the league gave awards for John to hand out. Here is a picture of most of their team.

John had a stomach bug today, so after cleaning and homework the kids and I decide it was a beautiful day to get out of the house. I have been begging the family to go back up to Big Talbot.

Here is a map of the area up near Big Talbot, what is funny about Big Talbot is that it is the smaller looking park (I guess where we go according to the map is the bluffs.) Little Talbot is more expensive and bigger when you get inside with beach access, trails, and bathrooms/showers. But what Big Talbot has is this really cool tree grave yard. When you park you take a trail from the north side of the parking lot for a 1/4 mile down to the beach. There is a interesting "cliff" effect for Florida. The kids and I had fun taking pictures of each other on the trees.

Basketball--the other sport

In the winter the kids play basketball. It somehow seems that even though we are playing basketball that soccer is still there. We had two soccer tournaments and practice for both kids during basketball. Even still both kids seem to enjoy playing basketball.

John coached Sage's team again this year. Her team had 4 girls and 6 boys. There one win came during a game when John was away at a soccer tournament.

Clay's season has been very exciting with mostly losses also, but they have all been by 1 or 2 points. They finally won a game this weekend. He is playing a 5th and 6th grade league and it feels like most of the teams are bigger then our boys.

Carry me back to old virginny

Clay is working on a report for his gifted class. He decided to research the state of Virginia. Here is a keynote production we put together for his project. He also did an eagle project in keynote recently for his regular classroom, but when I convert it to quicktime, it mess up the voices with the correct pages. I have not been able to solve that problem, so I have not posted the project on-line.

not for the faint of heart

Tonight Clay and I were messing around while cranking his palatal expander (link to a web page explaining more about palatal expanders). He wanted to see what it looked like and I wanted some pictures of it anyway to remember the "good times". So here a couple picture of the top of Clay's mouth with his palatal expander in. We are about 1/2 way through with me cranking it every other day (for 20 days). So far we have lost the key for an entire weekend, but after getting another one from the orthodontist we found the old one. Tonight was the first time I stabbed Clay in the top of the mouth with the key. It does require my reading glasses and bright light for me to find that little hole to push the mechanism back.

I guess when we are done Clay will be a big mouth!

Who is two?

Lydia, Cristina and Paul were in town this last week. While they were here we had an early birthday party for Lydia. During the prep day Lydia got to come over to the house and play with me for the morning!

Freezing Florida

I know we are not as cold as the rest of the nation. But the other morning Sage and John went out to the car and found frost all over the window. Sage had never seen an ice scraper before. She had fun scraping John's window and playing in the "snow".
