Reading field trip

Not like the last week of school was not busy enough, but Clay's reading teacher planned a field trip for all the students that had met their reading (AR) goals for the year. This was all but 2 students in the 2 classrooms. The field trip was to walk to a restaurant (Times Grill) that was about 1/2 a mile from the school and required crossing 1 fairly busy street. Three teachers and 2 parents walked with the two 4th grade classes to eat. Once at the restaurant the students were invited back to the kitchen by tables to flip their burger and toast their buns. Once lunch was over the students walked back to school were Mrs. Hayes had a party for the students in the room handing out prizes to students who read over a million words through out the year (6 students met this goal) and those who made so many points on the AR tests (Clay won a bouncy ball).
