We got up Monday morning and pack the car and headed down east (which really was Northeast).
Before we headed out I took a few pictures of the Halter house (and backyard pond).
Our first stop was the DeLorme building and store. Julie had mention that we passed this building on the way to L.L. Bean that had
"World's Largest Revolving/Rotating Globe" (link). It turned out to be the headquarters for the DeLorme maps and GPS store. We stopped and took pictures and bought a children's book about geocaching. Finally, we did 2 of the 3 caches in the parking lot.
It poured almost all whole trip to Acadia. We still made time to stop at several cities along our route.
Augusta, Maine (capital)
Bangor, Maine (
the 31 foot high statue of Paul Bunyan-link)Our first stop (after the hotel) was the visitor's center at Acadia National park. We watched a movie about the park. It was really funny talking about how it is a simple laid back park. But, it made it sound as if there was nothing to see there.
Driving up to Cadillac Mountain
From Cadillac Mountain (which is the tallest mountain on the eastern sea board of the US)

The kids after we hiked back to the car (the road was under construction.)

That night we went to another brewpub. It was a b-b-q place that was in a screen porch next to the brewery.
Then we walked around the town of Bar Harbor.
Sunset:
Grandma Becky bought airplanes for us to fly each night. We played in the park before heading to bed
