Ms Kadi's Girls' Kamp Friday

Last day of kamp (Friday):

Sand footprints
cosmetic travel bag (sewing)
Quick chicken parmesan
Tie dye cupcakes
pretzel (make dough and butter)

So today there were a bunch of cooking projects.  At one point I think we had almost every counter space available with bowls of dough and batter and more.  The first cooking project of the day was to start the yeast to make home made soft pretzels (like Auntie Anne's).  After the dough was made and set aside for an hour we made 2 white cake mixes (from a box) and a chocolate mix.  Once done we divided the white cake into 6 bowls and added a generous amount of food coloring to later make tie dyed cupcakes.

So while I was in the kitchen with the girls, Linda was kind enough to send another day sewing.  Todays project was a cosmetic bag out of a washcloth.  The girls used the scrapes from the shirts to add personal touches on the outside of the holders.  It was a must do project after I found 8 packs of washcloths at Target for $2.50 and It was pretty simple since it is straight stitching.

and yet another project that required kneading
Today lunch was really easy chicken parmesan and fruit salad:
  1. chicken fingers from the deli (our came from publix)
  2. spagetti sauce
  3. parmesan and mozzarella cheese
Layer and bake at 350 until cheese is golden brown.

Our next project was to make garden stepping stone footprints.  Each girl stepping into the loose sand and pushed their foot down firmly.  Then filled the bottom (which becomes the top) with shells, glass, etc the I poured plaster of pairs (not good for outside-will use concrete of something next time) in the holes.  We allowed to dry 30-45 min and pulled out of the sand.  We one had 2 break and it was the same child both times.
