Last Thursday the kids and I went to Barnes and Noble and stood in line to see
Mary Pope Osborne (link), she is the author of the Magic Tree House books. She was supposed to arrive at 5:00, due to technical difficulties (a melt down at home) we did not get to the bookstore until 4:20. We got wrist band # 437 and 438. This became lucky in the sense that once she did arrive we had not been lined up outside yet and were able to see her speak about her new books and ideas for future books. After she was done speaking we were placed in line about 10 stores beyond the books store. Mary Pope Osborne had explained that she had broken her wrist last year and on the day of her surgery she fell in the parking lot breaking her finger. So she would not be signing books the store people would be stamping them, but we could get a picture with her and her sister (who helps write the non-fiction books). We stayed in line for about 45 minutes maybe moving 5+ stores, it was now 6:15 and Clay had to work on his science fair project, I need to get home and make dinner, we probably had at least another hour in line. We finally left our books with friend's in line and they were able to get them stamped for us. I was able to take a few picture of Mary Pope Osborne and one has her sister, Nataile while she was talking.
We did just what everyone wanted an bought the new Magic Tree house, but it is about Leonard De Vinci.
