I started jogging about a year ago. I could do about a mile (to the front of the subdivision and back). I have also been going to the gym in my subdivision pretty faithfully. Well at the beginning of soccer season one of the other moms and I decided that we would start walking the 2 nights of practice a week. We walk 3 miles, slowly the last 2 or so month we started jogging half of it and then all. I can comfortable jog 2-2.5 miles. I have a couple times jogged 3.5. When I jog with my friend Christine I have a much harder time because she is much taller then me and she sets a much longer stride then I am used to jogging by myself.
Well before soccer season ended one of the other mother's asked us if we were going to run/jog in the Festival of Lights Jingle Run 5K. So this is what I have been working up too. It was tonight. It was a lot of fun. The run was through the San Marco area of Jacksonville, most of the house were decorated, the streets were lined with luminaries, and the people were fun to watch. There were stroller decorated with lights, strollers decorated to look like a sleigh with a dads dressed as Santa. Christine and I wore antlers. Both of our boys ran with us, Noah had a elf hat, but he forgot Clay's in the car. We ran into 2 other families from the soccer team and someone from John's work. John and Sage parked at a restaurant on the run and hung out. They met up with Tim and Luke (Christine's family) and Hope and Dillan (another family from the soccer team). Ana Lia, Lola, and one of Ana Lia's friends came to the restaurant too (thank you!). They were all outside when we ran by. We finished the 3.1 miles in 39 minute and 40 something seconds. I had said we would finish in 45 minutes. We did better then I thought. Our first mile took a little over 14 minutes--it was really hard to not trip over people, especial the walker that were in our way. The second mile we did in 12 minutes. The last mile we did in around 14 minutes again. I am really having problem with inside of both of my ankles-- it has something to do with the arch having fallen and my right foot was really, really hurting the whole run. When we were done we all went back to European Street for dinner.
But I ran/jogged the whole thing!!!!
