First Day of school 10-11

Clay started middle school today. He is attending Darnell-Cookman School of Medical Arts Middle and High. It is one of a few middle magnet schools in Duval county. This school is for gift and medical studies. Darnell was Clay's 3rd choice in magnet schools, but he has said the he loved middle school.

Sage started 4th grade at Twin Lake Academy Elementary. She is not in a co-taught class this year, it might be the first year. Her teacher is new to the school, but is very friendly. Sage is on the green team this year. The green team takes care of the recycling and other "green" things around the school-this club is only for 4th graders.

Boston Day 1

(I am finally get around to posting from our trip to Boston)

John and I decided to take the kids to Boston. John had to go for work. The kids were going to miss 2 days of school, but we figured it was worth it to see the North Church, Paul Reverse house, and other sites important to American history.

We got in late afternoon Saturday. Then tried to transverse the T (underground), we ended up getting lost and taking a cab the rest of the way to the hotel.

After settling into our hotel, we were only staying for one night before moving to the one hosting John's conference, we headed out to explore.

Make Way For Duckling is a famous children's book about Boston Public Gardens. In the park is a series of statues of the ducklings.

After walking through the gardens, we ate at Cheers. Unfortunately they did not know any of our names.

After dinner we crossed over to the other side of the road to the Boston Commons. Here is a frog protecting the children's playground.

5th grade SOS Universal trip

I got to go along with the 5th grade SOS (student's of service) to Universal Studios. I was assigned 2 boys to ride the rides. But somehow end up with 2 boys and 2 girls (when the girls group decided to do the Universal Studios side and not Island of Adventure). We all had a blast riding the roller coasters, I don't think they were expecting me to go along on all them with them. The group was awesome, with no major disagreements on which ride to ride next.

Happy Mother's day

For mother's day I got plants and the install of the plants. Then I went out and bought kiwi and raspberries and planted them along the side of the house.

Argentina Cinco de Mayo

We through a surprise party for Ana Lia. Her birthday is on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo). I realize that Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican celebration and that my best friend is from Argentina and more over that the whole big drinking/food party of Cinco de Mayo is an American "thing." But, the theme of a "tacky" tex-mex cinco de Mayo party seemed like fun and with the help of several friends well pulled off a great party. We truly did surprise Ana Lia, who thought that she was coming over to my house for a get together for mother's day. Throwing a surprise party for Ana Lia was not easy as Rodolfo and Rodolfo end up having to drive to Miami to a funeral and Ana Lia tried to cancel on us due to some church function-but I told her she still had to come over (in my head I am thinking there are 40 people coming to my house that night!) When she walked into the kitchen and everyone yelled "happy birthday", she turn to me and said "it is just supposed to be you and me for dinner tonight." The tex-mex theme was a blast with a pinata, tissue flowers, tacos, quesadillas, and mexican music.

We bought ticket to go to WWE again. This time we were to the side of the stage, but up close. The fireworks scared us when they went off. Sage had a blast being able to see everyone up close. And Clay loved the women.
